Fibre to the Cabinet DSL Testing

The provision of DSL services is changing and it is now possible to supply a DSLAM in a street cabinet connected via optical cable to the Central Office. The copper voice service is then added via a splitter in the cabinet using the original copper cables.

The Test Head the Central Office can no longer test the whole circuit out to the customer as the Splitter in the DSALM breaks the circuit.

One solution is to put the test capability into the cabinet as well. This means the final part of the line circuit can be tested through to the customers equipment. The DSLAM service and customers modem can  be tested by incorporating a Golden Modem.
